INDIA, MR. OVADIA AND MANY FRIENDS: THIS IS THE FIRST TRIBUTE TO PINA BAUSCH. BAMBOO BLUES GENERAL REHEARSAL HAS BEEN SOLD OUT.

Last night, the Teatro Romano hosted the general rehearsal of Bamboo Blues, the show Pina Bausch created in 2007.

There were people deeply moved out of the theatre. "The beginning has been painful” said Moni Ovadia. While one of the dancers of the Tanztheater Wuppertal company was performing, with the monsoon moving both her dress and the curtain, the Jewish actor and composer was feeling “an inconsolable loss like for a genius’ death”.

Each single part of the show is inspired by India (where Pina Bausch lived) but reminds the viewers the great choreographer’s last will as well.

Ovadia’s last goodbye is like a hyperbolic caress: “I’m agnostic but tonight I’ve seen the Virgin”.
