LUCA RONCONI’S SEAGULL FLIES HIGH. THE CHARM OF THE ESSENCIALS.

The seagull by Anton Cechov is a classic that dates back to 20th century. The great Italian director Luca Ronconi has fascinated Spoleto Festival audience with his Un altro gabbiano (An other seagull). In The seagull,  all characters are sad, nostalgic and full of regret. They are seagulls which finally get killed or kill themselves. In his Seagul, Ronconi gives lot of attention to the text seen as an observation about theatre and literature as well and Nina’s final monologue (performed by Clio Cipolletta and Elena Ghiaurov) is wonderful.
